Eurozone powerhouse economies grow
18 August 2009
Last week saw the news that the recession has officially ended in the powerhouse economies of France and Germany, with both countries showing small positive growth for the first time in the last year.
End of the recession? The results which were a surprise to politicians and economists alike could be the beginnings of a fragile recovery for France and Germany. The news was welcomed in the UK and could provide benefits to the British economy as over 50% of the countries exports are destined for continental Europe.
Still a fragile situationEconomists have warned that despite signs of recovery, the economies across Europe are still fragile. However, providing consumer confidence remains on the up and exports continue this news could mark the beginning of the end for the recession.
